Great UK ADT customer complaint!
This is a great example of ADT customer complaints that I found searching the internet:
“ADT have set my burglar alarm to dial a premium rate telephone number. My
burglar alarm is a standard central-monitored unit, and it automatically
dials their call centre every time it’s set or unset, that’s 2 or 4 times a
day at the office. It does this to a 0906 number. Each call only lasts a few
seconds, so it does not show up on standard itemised billing. It was only
when I asked BT for an extra-detailed bill that these calls showed up. The
cost is somewhere between GBP50 and GBP100 a year, which has been going on
for years – ever since they took over my contract from the firm that
installed the alarm. I have no recollection of being asked or informed.
They tell me this is standard practice for all their business customers.
Home users get put through to an 0870 number.”
Ha! A super sneaky way of ADT getting extra cash out of their customers – and ultimately ripping them off when they’re not looking!
