Our
History
Like
all alarm companies that started in the late 80's early 90's we
descended from a business selling and installing conventional burglar
alarm systems with outside sounders. However after just a few
years installing such systems we realised that they were largely
ineffective against burglars. Whilst highly visible outside sirens acted
as a deterrent and persuaded the burglar to seek a property without an
alarm, once all the local properties had alarms, the burglars simply
ignored or silenced the sounders and were in and out of properties in
minutes - well before anyone was sufficiently annoyed by the sound to
respond! At the same time the police confirmed that they would no
longer respond to alarms sounding unless a crime was confirmed in
progress!
From
this situation we switched to providing only monitored systems.
However, we soon realised that the conventional call back monitored
systems were not much better than alarm systems with sounders.
They couldn't distinguish between a real alarm and a false alarm unless
someone was present, so the burglar new he had several minutes to help
himself before anyone was likely to turn up . Furthermore, they were no
better than using a telephone if there was any sort of emergency when
someone was present.
Having
decided that this type of monitoring was only marginally better than
having a sounder, we developed our AFID monitoring system with immediate
audio response. This has many advantages over our old system - it
provides a second line of deterrence in frightening away intruders, it
enables us to immediately identify if an unauthorised person is present
and thus call the police straight away, and in the event of other
emergencies it provides an immediate hands free link to the appropriate
emergency service.
More
recently with the advent of high speed internet based systems and
affordable digital recorders and transmitters we have linked CCTV
systems with the AFID monitoring system and now provide our customers
integrated electronic security systems. These provide a 3rd level of deterrence.
We can detect, identify and warn off intruders as they approach, whilst
our clients have the ability to record
activities in their properties and monitor them from anywhere in the world
using their
laptop. We have made high security highly affordable.

Philosophy
Our
core philosophy as a company is to provide cost effective reliable 24
hour security to homes and businesses across the UK, in order to ensure
peace of mind for all our customers.
Our
philosophy speaks for itself - unlike our competitors who require
3 to 5 year monitoring contracts and a minimum of one years notice
thereafter, at high prices, we offer alternative low initial prices with
competitive ongoing costs or competitive initial prices and low on going
costs. How can we do it?
- 12 years experience has made us efficient and shown us that our
products are reliable. We have no need of long contracts because our
customers are happy, they do not leave us since there is no better
security , no better price, and no better all round peace of mind!
Our
Achievements
Since
we were established in 1994, we have provided monitored alarm systems to
thousands of satisfied customers, including householders, businesses,
local and national governments and high street shop chains. During this
time our systems have saved several lives and millions of £’s worth
of property.
Our
proud boast is that in over 12 years there has been only 6 cases were
intruders have delayed long enough to grab single items after being
challenged by us, and in two of these cases they were caught by the
police.
What
areas do we cover
AMCO’s
central office and secure monitoring station are based in England,
managing alarm and security accounts for customers across the whole of
mainland UK, as well as parts of France, Spain & the Benelux
countries. Installation and maintenance is undertaken through a network
of our own skilled and dedicated engineers. (We do not employ
sub-contractors.) Because of our virtual network of engineers, high
level of efficiency, and low overheads, AMCO is able to deliver real
value and quality service to our customers. Our strong bulk buying power
both with our own manufacturers in the UK and other specialists in the
Far East, also means that we can ensure that our customers pay low
prices for our quality products.
