A recipe is simply a cause linked to an effect
Pick a cause from your system, a room or a device - the alarm being set, a door opening, or your phone arriving home - and pair it with an effect, like a light or smart plug switching on or off. Once it's built and activated, it runs automatically, every time, with no further input from you.
